Bancroft Elementary School needs a better playground for its HeadStart and pre-K students.

Mount Pleasant parents want a neighborhood playground for their young children.

WORKING TOGETHER, WE CAN HAVE BOTH.

The principal, parents, teachers and volunteers at Bancroft Elementary invite everyone in the Mount Pleasant community to come help us build PlayStart, a joint school-community playground where all our very young children can play.

Bancroft has an ideal site for a new playground: a grassy area under a large tree, separated by a fence from the main playground. It is easy to get to from 18th and Ingleside. It is already enclosed, level, and handicapped-accessible. The school has the staff to maintain the playground and keep it clean and safe.

With your participation and support, we can turn this space into a wonderful playground for young children with trees and flowers, swings and slides, places for parents and teachers to sit, and open to the community during and after school, holidays and weekends.

A PlayStart committee of parents, teachers and community members is developing a plan and raising the money to make this playground a reality.

PLEASE JOIN US! WE WELCOME YOUR SUPPORT. .

Buy a Brick! Place a name on PlayStart's wall of fame! Mount Pleasant's new PlayStart preschool playground will include a special engraved brick wall recognizing the people who made our playground possible--and who make Mount Pleasant a great place for a kid to live!

The PlayStart Organizing Committee is organized as a nonprofit corporation, PlayStart, Inc.
